Week 2- Infection Control and Dental Instrument Processing
Everything you need to know about OSHA, PPE, Disinfection and Sterilization!
Week 3 - The Dental Patient
Introduction to basic instrument transfer and proper positioning as a dental assistant. Learn all about the patient record and vital signs.
Week 4 - Anatomy and Physiology, Dental Anatomy
Introduction to Dental Anatomy & Terminology.
Week 5 - The Dental Exam
Dental Charting! A fun lecture that will engage you with better depth of common dental practices. Learn the importance of obtaining full dental records!
Week 6 - Moisture Control and Pain Management
Learn one of the key responsibilities in basic chairside assisting, moisture control! Discover how we manage pain and anxiety in the dental world and the role you play. Learn to assemble a Rubber Dam & Syringe.
Week 7 - MID-TERM EXAM and Professional Development
Midterm Exam- Let us see how things are all coming together. Review Job Interview Skills, and Mock Interviews as well One on one interview prep.
Week 8 & 9 - Radiology and Intraoral Photography
Hands on Radiology Training and lecture material to prepare you for the state exam.
Week 10 & 11 - Restorative Dentistry
What General Dentistry is all about! Learn all about restorative restorations! Practice doing this procedure on mannikins in the real dental office. Learn more about dental instruments and how to assemble the matrix band. You will learn how to take impressions and create models. Understand how to fabricate a temporary crown for the patient and dental practice, making these several times on mannikins until you feel confident doing it in the real world!
Week 12 - Preventative Dentistry and Dental Specialties
Review patient communication and oral hygiene instruction. Learn all about root canals, better known in the dental world as endodontics, as well as orthodontics, or braces!
Week 13 - Medical Emergencies in the Dental Office, Vital Signs and BLS Training
Week 14
Final applied clinical experience with chairside assisting in four-handed dentistry, radiographic techniques, and assisting during specialty procedures. Final Practical Exam and Final Written Exam! At the completion of your last day, you will have the confidence to walk out into the dental world, get an amazing career doing what you love, and get paid for it!
GRADUATION!!
Following the last day of class is YOUR day to shine! It is graduation day! We go off site to a local venue to celebrate you and all your hard work! Bring your family and friends to celebrate you and your amazing accomplishment! This event will offer a variety of refreshments, discussion of your accomplishments throughout class, diplomas, games with prizes, and more!
